AoE2 Ranked Season 12 Begins — New Placement System
Season 12 of ranked play is now live with a revised placement match system. Players now play 10 placement matches instead of 5, with soft MMR resets for all brackets.
The new placement system uses 10 matches and a soft reset that moves all players 15% toward the median. This means high-Elo players start lower and must climb back. New season rewards include an exclusive Britons skin.
What This Means For You
Expect the first 2 weeks of Season 12 to have inflated win rates for strong players and deflated rates for weaker ones as the ladder re-calibrates. Do not panic if your early season results look unusual.
